Update: I threw Applications > Microsoft Edge into the trash and took the newer edge from msedge-stable and put that into Applications and threw the older one in the trash. Is this something other Mac users observe with their own copies of Edge? Is this a bug? I could understand keeping one duplicate for the older version while in the process of updating, but not keeping it after it, let alone keeping 3 extra copies. This amounts to about 2.34 GB of space taken up for no discernible purpose. Moreover, the version of Edge that is in the Applications folder itself takes up about 1.5 GB rather than 780 MB, because in Microsoft Edge > Contents > Frameworks > Microsoft Edge amework > Versions it has both the current version and the previous version.Īll in all, Microsoft Edge is keeping four copies of this already large application on my hard drive, when only one is needed. Together, this is wasting about 1.5 GB of storage, since each version is just under 800 MB, and I already have Edge in the Applications folder. In my user library folder > Application Support > Microsoft > EdgeUpdater > apps > msedge-stable it contains two folders, one containing a copy of the current version of Edge and one containing a copy of the previous version of Edge.

I don’t know if this is a bug or not, but it feels like one, and I’m hoping I can get a little insight.
